Today is a special day for everyone in our country, not only for me, my family and friends who voted for P-NOY but also to all of those who wish for CHANGE. I really feel bad that I fell asleep at the latter part of his speech, but I am really rooting for him from the beginning up until now, despite a lot of controversies thrown at him. I just really hope to see a better country in his hands and in ours as well, because as they always say, it is not only his job to bring change to our country, but also and most especially, OURS.

Today, I was also supposed to go out with my friends and watch Letters to Juliet at gateway and planned to go around CubaoX na rin. Unfortunately, due to some unforeseen circumstances, na-postpone na naman ito. You know, you could really count on my friends in most things like birthday celebrations, when one has a problem and wants to chill, or during cozy inuman sessions at Chris' place, pero when it comes to watching a movie, parang it always ends up not pushing through. May curse ba ang SR when it comes to watching movies at laging di natutuloy?   That's why, I always just remember this ONE time when we got to watch a movie together---Harry Potter 4 pa ata. Yun lang at di na naulit ulit. Pero I still love all of them.

BTW, here's a picture of melo (in red-orange bandanna and blue PdP skimmers) and Chris (beside her wearing blue scarf as headband and white top). I cannot believe I declined when Chris asked me to model for PdP. I just didn't think I can do it as good as Melo did in this one (so magaling pa rin ako at sinuggest ko si mel--so pretty right?) And I was surprised to see Chris too. She has been interning for PdP for quite some time and she said that even she was surprised she was asked to model as well.

so there you go. other than those, my life is pretty much boring nowadays. i'm definitely back in school! Have duty days ahead of me again... Have a great day! COngrats to President Noynoy Aquino and sige na nga to VP Binay!

Realizations....

I just finished the first draft for ina's poster for one of this year's student council's activities. Hope they like it. I'm  emailing it as we speak.

Aside from that, I also want to blog about yesterday! Coz Kat and I met up at Rob Manila since I didn't have classes and she has a 4-hour break from school. She went to buy a new pair of comfy, brown flats from Australian (since her pink sandals almost gave up on her) and went around window shopping after. We had lunch at sushi-ya, not minding the huge amount we paid for a mixed maki plate, katsudon and pork teriyaki. Well, we deserve to splurge on something every once in a while don't we?

P.S. kat and I were wearing the same effing white-v-neck shirts we bought at Pasig Palengke. the only difference was, she cuffed her sleeves while i cut off mine. grrr... we were like twins yesterday!

Anyway, we had to part ways at Taft ave. She took the lrt back to la salle and I took the jeepney going back to Quiapo. I made a quick stop at the church and had my watch's battery replaced then headed off to Recto. I had to look for my other 2 books, but ended up finding only 1. But it's not so bad, after all, I was able to have some time for myself again, walking along Recto, checking out stuff from Merriam-Webster bookstore and stuff on the street. I will miss this when I graduate next year.

So here's a few things I realized during this 2 day vacation:
  1. I really have to make most out of this final year in nursing school.
  2. I have to study really hard for all the coming quizzes, thesis-writing, achievement tests and board exam.
  3. I am so excited to graduate and to work and earn my own money.
  4. Can't wait to go abroad (with my friends who also plan to work there) >>had a fun talk with Jan last night.
  5. Being a hospital nurse isn't the only option I have in order to practice what I have been studying for the last few years. I can be a flight nurse for all I care.
  6. I don't want to let my family down, but most especially, I don't want to let myself down. I CAN do this!
  7. There are a lot of really good Phil lit books again!!! Can't wait to buy them all! Ika nga, tangkilikin ang sariling atin! To tell you honestly, all those summit books and other books written by Pinoy writers are more fun to read because you can relate to them more. Here are some of the books on my to buy list:

      • Table for Two
      • Geek shall inherit the earth (?)
      • 10 ways on getting over aj (?)
      • and lots of other Pinoy books!!!

So if I were you, I will from time to time, try to browse some of the books at the Phil. Lit section. I'm sure you won't regret it!

today was weird...

but fun, before it turned weird again. The whole day generally was, as most days, a laughtrip. It was our first lecture day and we just met almost all of our professors. It was also a day for election of class officers and even that was sort of a big joke. Our class purposely nominated Maan, Mara, Carlo and I against each other for the position of class secretary. It was seriously the craziest thing ever, but it was fun. We all voted for Maan and I'm glad she won coz that was what we were planning all along.

Anyway, I was happy mostly throughout the day but I couldn't get away with the fact that too much happiness can also bring sadness, unfortunately. Yes that's what I believe in. In almost all the times I was carelessly loud and happy, I know that it wouldn't last that long before something sad comes along to balance things out. It just made sense. You can never be too happy, or should I say, "I" could never be too happy. I don't really know if it's just a curse someone put forth upon me or if it's just me or it does really happen.

Maybe I'm just getting more and more paranoid by the minute and I just think too pessimistically (is there such a word?). I won't be surprised if I end up being in a straight jacket one day because of the weird things I think about, but for now, I'll still have to go with happiness needing sadness to achieve the equilibrium of life. Today was weird, but I'm weirder and it's scary.

So, I'm doing a lot of things trying to squeeze in as much research work (and blogging) as possible before the wifi gets turned off any minute now. Ok, sister just turned it off. Good thing I have an emergency wireless broadband with me.

So that's it for now. I have lots of weird things in mind right now (really weird), but look at the bright side, at least I'm still awake worrying about it. :(

First Day High!

Yesterday was my official LAST first day of school, together with my groupmates. We still haven't had any lecture classes yet since first day fell on a duty day! So I haven't seen all my classmates yet (well, not in the same room all at the same time). Today we had our (emphasis on the >>) LAST annual school orientation for the lowdown on what's waiting for us up ahead.

As usual, there were a couple of threatening and hair raising reminders for us, graduating students. We were presented with a calendar of events up until our last day in the university and as stated, we will be graduating on March 28, 2011! Mark that day!

Our class retreat will be on August and payments have to be handed down to the treasurer on the 15 of next month. Enrichment classes and Achievement tests will be part of our weekly schedules as early as this semester up until summer of next year (which should help us in taking up the board exams on July of next year).

So far, since yesterday, I haven't been doing anything yet. When I got back to my dorm at around lunch time, I cleaned up my part of the room and fixed my things and went straight to Rob Manila at 2pm and bought stuff I needed like hairnet and ponytails, dish washing sponge, lock and lock lunch box etc. I went home and saw Caks while checking out a P60 earbud earfones. She ate dinner and I had merienda at the dorm's canteen. She said she missed having isaw. Deep inside I missed those too but I couldn't be too lax about my health, could I?

Anyway, I am typing away while I still can since it's Friday night and most people here have already gone back to their respective homes for the weekend. I on the other hand have a 7 o' clock call time at school tomorrow for an unsure duty with an unknown instructor so I can't go home even if I want to. So I am taking advantage of the first time I ever have been in this library with not so many people and laptops all over the place in a longtime (Actually, I don't think that there was ever a time when this library was as spacious/empty as it is now. now, now, this is a first!). The wifi's surprisingly fast too so I can do a little research (I need to report on G6PD or Glucose-6-Phosphate-Dehydrogenase Deficiency in about 2-3 weeks and believe it or not, I'm doing this in advance) and a little blogging and plurking on the side. Hopefully kids here won't come back with laptops in hand next week or else, I'd be bringing out my mighty weapon (the ever reliable extension cord!!).
the evidence:(almost empty isn't it?) all 7 of us are on the other side of this room/library so the other side is completely unoccupied!)

I was also checking out stuff from THIS SITE and here are a few things I liked from the first page.
I like Miley's top here. I've always had a thing for stripey outfits and I've always wanted a 3/4 or even a striped, long sleeved shirt like this one. Plus, these shoes were so in back when I was in gradeschool. I bought one because I saw my classmate wearing one (though they weren't as high as these).

SHOES SHOES SHOES>> Give me boys' shoes/oxfords or whatever-you-call-these-type-of-shoes! I saw a lot at the grove bazaar over the summer, but I didn't have money for those. Hmmm, I wonder what kind of shoes I'd buy for our retreat? SO excited. Need to save!

Lastly, my sister and I bought a lot of these racer back sandos like that one there for a cheap price of________secret! hahaha! So topshop/Mango/Zara! Thank God for my stingy-ness! hahaha!

Anyway, I wasn't able to bring with me my Living Water bible reflections so I couldn't post today's reading. Hopefully on the next entry. God bless you all! Have a great school year!

quotable quotes...

Today was unexpectedly fine and spontaneous. I thought that the fact that things not going well as planned would ruin our day but it didn't. We ate at a nearby yellow and black themed pizza restaurant because mama didn't think in advance and thaw something for lunch. It wasn't all her fault though. We should have been the one to think in advance, after all, she and papa had to talk to the landlord (who also happened to be our architect for the house renovations about some things that didn't go as planned---what I was talking about earlier).

After lunch, we headed down to SM Taytay to do some last minute grocery shopping before school starts tomorrow. The mall was packed. It's like the whole of Taytay was at the same place, at the same time, which was the mall at 1 in the afternoon.

Anyway, what I also want to share with you, aside from our lovely family day are some of the quotes that unexpectedly and all oddly seemed to just pop out of nowhere for the last hour or two. Weird thing that these just kept coming while I was surfing.

"no one can drive us crazy unless we give them the keys"
This one I got from Ryan Seacrest via twitter and I have to tell you, it's really funny but when you think about it, it is true!

"..thing we call 'failure' is not the falling down, but the staying down."
This one's from David Archuleta also via twitter and it kind of reminds me of the song "Get up" by Superchick from the movie, Ice Princess. It sort of means the same thing.

"I--I hardly know, sir, just at present--at least I know who I was when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then."
This one was posted by one of my closest friends, Christine on her tumblr account. It was an excerpt from a book with a character named Alice. Not sure though if it's Alice in Wonderland. I honestly had to read and reread it a few times before I understood (well, sort of) it.

Lastly, this one which I got from Chico Garcia's blog (from one of his entries entitled Top 10 date quotes) which was just shared to me by another good friend of mine, Louise. I couldn't stop scrolling down to his previous posts until reached this special quote to which I know I can relate my other good friend, Juci to. I know that when my whole barkada (including the Pugaks) hears this, there's no one but one person to whom we would all be dedicating this to. and it is you, yes Juci, YOU! So here it is....

Astroboy – Banat ng girl to a torpe guy: “If you’re willing to chase me…I promise, I’ll run slow.”
Odiba? panalo and para sa yo talaga! hahahaha

Anyway, the night's not getting any younger so I have to retire soon just like the rest of this household. Yes, you heard it right, tonight, EVERYONE (except for me) unusually had to sleep early because tomorrow is going to be a big day (meaning big traffic, big mrt/lrt crowds and big amount of effort just to be able to get to school and back home in one piece). Everything is going to be a big chaotic bowl of mess again in the metro and beyond. My family's going back to having fast food dinner once again and going home very late at night. Good thing I go back to school on Thursday pa, so I can still stay up this late. I just wish my family great luck tomorrow and on all the days up ahead. Never say never. Don't give up! Have faith in the Lord! Goodnight!

P.S. I'm thinking that it would be much easier for me to remember all the wonderful realizations about God (from Living Water 2010 Bible reflections) if I would be posting it here. Plus I get to share them with those who may come to pass by...

SO for today, Tuesday, June 15, 2010, The title of the reflection is Being Loved and Loving.
"But I say to you,
Love your enemies and
pray for those who
persecute you.."
-Matthew 5:44

I try to do this every once in a while (when I can). I've learned the secret to praying for those who make fun of me, for those who disrespect me at times and try not to be overcome by my emotions. Instead, I pray for them that they may realize that what they do is hurtful and unjust. In the same way, I also try not to do anything that I don't want to be done to me as well.

Remember, no servant is greater than his master. Therefore, what God has been through, we cannot be exempted from as we all are servants of God Almighty. Good night and God bless you all!

sunday morning, rain isn't falling (hopefully)

It's 2:10 in the morning and I'm supposed to gather batch 2 of my dorm stuff but (as usual), those can wait until after I wake up later for breakfast later.

Yesterday, we went shopping at Pasig Palengke and I just love it there. Though you can easily get trampled by people who ALL seem to be in a hurry, I still love the fact that you can still buy a lot with P1k. Anyway, fast forward to all the candy, clothes, shoes, underwear and fruits shopping, we went home feeling lucky to have bought a lot of really useful things for a very, very, cheap, cheap price. Thanks to Papa, Mama and Kat (and Jus na rin kahit di sumama) and of course God. Thank you for providing us with what we really need and at times, with what we really want. God bless you, God.

Also, I've finally seen Glee's season finale and I still cry every time I watch it (to think that I've watched it more than 8 times and counting!). I've also met up with my barkada for the last time before school starts again. We were supposed to watch sex and the city but only Juci (who was also the one who planned it all) was there on time. Good thing we were really hungry and ate at the OSH.

And finally, school starts on Tuesday since Monday is a non-working holiday (in lieu of Yesterday which was the 108th celebration of our Independence day!) Anywhooo, this year is going to be our FINAL YEAR! We're SENIORS once again. It is going to be wild, crazy and fun! It needs to be!

I just finished filling up my fone with almost 300++ of my most favorite and most sung songs of the music-loving-part of my life. Okay, I don't know if that made any sense, but one thing's for sure, I love my new fone playlist. I just hope it works... Please let it work.

Wow, I really, really need to fix my fone and my things for tomorrow, not to say sleep while there's still time. so bye for now.

P.S. The song Faithfully by Journey was played while we were scurrying around Pasig Palengke. It was awesome. I love Glee! hahahhaha I love nonsense!

Being productive again

Hey, It's past lunch time already. I lost track of time since I started making a design for a design a laptop sleeve contest. I'm not sure about my idea. I wanted to create a painting-like output. This one is especially inspired by the layout of the Daily Candy website (which I've been to the past couple of days because I'm trying out the Tracy Anderson exercises they demonstrated there). I just wanted my design to have a very soft look with fine details. So far, all I've accomplished is this. And I'm not sure whether to put the dress and the sunglasses together with the Manila city hall as a backdrop or not. So here, I'm still a little confused (as usual) as to how I'm going to finish this whole thing, but I'm gonna have lunch first and be back to this later...

bum-bum-bum

I didn't do as much as I did last Monday and yesterday and I feel guilty about it so I had to wash the dishes to make up for being such a bum. This whole last-few-days-before-I-get-back-to-school-mode is making me feel crazy. It's as if making myself really busy would stop or prolong time.

Anyway, I don't want to rant about anything pointless right now. So a while ago, I didn't want to go online since it would definitely eat all my time again. So what I did was, I began exercising again while watching E! News and the Daily 10, my two favorite celeb gossip shows. Russell Brand co-hosted the D10 with Catt Sadler and I was surprised to see a genuinely hilarious person in him. I didn't like him in Forgetting Sarah Marshall but in real life, he seemed fine. A lot of people didn't like him on the show. They were trash-talking him on a website and I thought that was rude. Anyway, he said a lot of funny things on the show (about Bieber and more) and a lot of good things as well. Even Catt was surprised to hear meaningful words he said about Jen Aniston (who seemed to be having a hard time finding an SO until now). Anyway, as surprised as we all are, he really do seem like a great person. I hope he really is. Anyway, I also watched Spoon today. Emilio (Zamora? or Jacinto? not sure) was the guest for the episode and I was even more surprised than I ever was with Russell Brand about what kind of person he truly is. I am not completely in shock but in the same way, he was really funny and humble as well. He made everyone on the set laugh, even me when he talked about his experience on a Film fest on Montreal with Bill Pullman (whom I'm sort of familiar---not sure though, will look for a picture later).

Then while I was waiting for Glee's Season Finale, I read my OB book and then fell asleep (shocker) and overslept. I woke up, but I was 30 minutes late for Glee and so I wasn't able to see  the regionals part. Good thing I was able to hear Harry Shum Jr. a.k.a. Mike Chang speak his first every line ever!!!!YAHOO!! Looking forward to more mike chang lines!!!

Anyway, I am downloading songs for my sister (most of which I'm not really sure if the title is real), but I'm having a hard time looking for some. Anyway, Summer's over here in the Philippines but is just about to start in the US, so the Daily Candy has compiled a summer playlist which I'm going to look for too later.

I'm still not ready for school, but I sure like this dress Eva Mendez wore to the 2010 MTV Movie Awards (where's the connection in this one?). It looked so flowy and fun to wear on tv but not as good on still photos but I still like it!!

P.S. It's NOYNOY-BINAY proclammation day today (which I also wasn't able to watch since I overslept). Will watch the news later..

OOoOops I think Dinner's ready. That's it for now. Tata!

we are young

MIKA, who also happened to be one of my favorites sang the Kick Ass soundtrack single, "Kick Ass (We are Young). The whole soundtrack is worth listening to, but this one tops them all definitely. Enjoy!

We are young
We are strong
We’re not looking for where we belong
We’re not cool
We are free
And we’re running with blood on our knees
We could rule the world
On a silver platter
From the wrong to the right light
To an open stream
With a crash and burn
We could make it better
Turn it upside down
Just you and me
We are the dream
No other way
To be
We are young
We are strong
We’re not looking for where we belong
We’re not cool
We are free
And we’re running with blood on our knees
I could change the world
I could make it better
Kick it up and down
Take a chance on me
When you fake a smile
And you think you’re better
Gonna put it down
Rip (…) it at your feet
No bridge to burn
Nowhere to turn
For me
We are young
We are strong
We’re not looking for where we belong
We’re not cool
We are free
And we’re running with blood on our knees
What do they know about us?
Are they thinking of somebody else?
www.musicloversgroup.com
Are they wondering what we might be?
Are they thinking of you or of me?
We are young
We are strong
We’re not looking for where we belong
We’re not cool
We are free
And we’re running with blood on our knees

Folding clothes playlist

No folding clothes is not an album, silly. It is actually what I am doing now that the clothes (some of which i have handwashed and machine washed yesterday, would you believe it? now i have blistahs on muh finguhs) have been hanged dry and now that it is going to rain again. Angry, roaring skies we have today...

  1. Click click click click - bishop allen/ allen bishop
  2. near to you - a fine frenzy
  3. you picked me - a fine frenzy
  4. love like that - the heavy
  5. you've lost that loving feeling - hall and oates (of course)
  6. the girl you lost to cocaine - sia (don't know why i dl-ed this)
  7. just a little more love - david guetta
  8. run, barbie run - earserheads
  9. sweet november - tegan and sarah
  10. get to you - james morrison
  11. lovely day - bill withers

PINK is not the new YELLOW..

But, what the heck, I'm liking pink nowadays. Okay this is really getting out of hand since this is my third entry for the day and it's not even lunch time yet. It's my third entry for this morning. Anyway, Yesterday while we were taking a break at crepes and cream or whatevs, I kept of glancing back at the body shop store nearby. (btw, White musk has a new packaging). And I couldn't help but notice the stack on the window facing crepes and cream. They organized their products in a way that the pink ones go to one shelf and the purple ones go to another. Okay, in short, they color-coded their store and I just couldn't resist looking at the pink stacked shelf. Anyway, If I haven't told you yet. I never liked pink while growing up contrary to the fact that most girls do. However, I learned recently that I might have a liking for PINK after all. It's not like I'm a late-bloomer but I really do at this age of almost 21. I loved the color blue for almost half my lifetime, and really loved yellow when I entered college and now, as much as I've hated it before, I'm currently infatuated with the color pink. not yet in love though. So I've looked for a lot of pink and girly stuff alike and here's what I found.

cute vintage pink fone. Papa used to have a fone like this in the office. not pink of course.

cutie cutie pup. saw a bunch of them yesterday at moa and tiende.
